On Sunday, February 1, 2009, I was approved for a service dog from Amazing Tails in Oxford, PA. Amazing Tails individually trains dogs to help mitigate a variety of disabilities. Amazing
Tails is a unique organization because they work with purebred puppies
as well as shelter dogs, giving them a second chance as working dogs.
The trainers at Amazing Tails have a special sense for choosing dogs that can alert to medical conditions. It is quite impressive!
The
cost of training and caring for a service dog can average $20,000. My
out-of-pocket expense for my new service dog will be $5,000.00. This
covers the dog's training, vetting, and daily care while at Amazing
Tails, as well as my training in PA at the end of the dog's formal
service dog training. If you would like to donate, please click HERE. Donations in any amount are greatly appreciated. Any money raised past the program's fee will be put into a vet fund for my new service dog's ongoing care.
I will be using this site to keep everyone updated on the process of adding a unique canine helper to my daily life, as well as to fund-raise. Check back often for progress reports!
Please donate your empty beverage containers!
