Cans, Cans, Cans (and bottles too!)

June 30, 2009
THANK YOU to everyone who has stepped forward and donated their refundable beverage containers! I have received 171 cans in 24 hours! That's AMAZING!

I will continue to collect cans up until final training with my service dog. Cans can be dropped off, or I will arrange to pick them up from you.

I appreciate ALL of your generosity so very much!

Trip to PA for re-evaluation

June 28, 2009
Hi everyone!

This past weekend I visited Amazing Tails for a picnic and re-evaluation for my service dog. Part of my re-evaluation was working with a dog for the duration of the picnic. He was such a sweetheart and we got along very well ! This particular dog will be working as a diabetic alert dog, and he spent a good portion of the afternoon alerting me. :-)

I am currently at the top of the list for a dog now and the trainers will be selecting and training my dog during the next 4-6 months. This means I have to work extra hard at fundraising and I am asking for your help. Please pass this website around and consider donating if you can!

I appreciate your support!

Health Update

May 12, 2009
Hi everyone!

It has been a while since I updated this blog! Unfortunately, I spent way too much of April in and out of the hospital and ER.

I found out that Amazing Tails plans to begin training my dog this summer. Hopefully, all goes as planned! I will be moving in August and will need all the help I can get, so if you'd like some free pizza, please come help!

I will be seeing my new PCP on Friday, so hopefully, I will finally be in good hands again. I finally got in to see a rheumatologist and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. We are running some more blood work to check for a few other rheumatic/autoimmune disorders, so I will know more in a few weeks.

I hope everyone is enjoying the fabulous weather...hopefully it stays!

Happy Friday!

March 27, 2009
Happy Friday everyone!

I am still working on catching up in some schoolwork...long process! Hopefully this weekend will be uneventful.

I have been keep up on some service dog forums and reading some pretty interesting stories (ie: the one woman who was told her bloodwork was going to have to be drawn in the car because the dog wasn't allowed in the clinic!).

I recently discovered how much I really enjoyed the show "7th Heaven". So entertaining...lol

We are $30 away from reaching 25% of the goal. That is amazing! Don't forget to visit www.beadlavada.com to register to win a bracelet. I will be donating an item to a local shelter for a fundraising event in September. :-)

Contest!

March 21, 2009
In order to increase traffic, I am sponsoring a contest! The winner will receive a custom charm bracelet. The bracelet will be made using Swarovski crystal and sterling silver and feature the charm of the winner's choice. Estimated value is approximately $40.

Healthy Balances

March 20, 2009
It always seems to be difficult to strike a healthy balance when you put yourself out on the web. People want information and they want to know who they're dealing with, but there's also the issue of privacy. Often times, there really is such a thing as "too much information"!

Today has been a slow day. I am working on some research for school and laying low until some commitments later in the day. I haven't been sleeping very well, so I've been quite tired...(I feel like I have one foot in dream-world and one outside, ya know?)

I have been keeping busy with making some jewelry using things I've had laying around for-ev-er, so check out my site and click "NEW".

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Thank you!

March 17, 2009
Hi Everyone!

I haven't been experiencing as much anxiety recently since we're pretty sure I'm dealing with a diagnosis of fibromyalgia in addition to the neurovascular disorder. Certainly puts a damper on things, but we're doing what we can to keep things manageable.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Beads!

March 14, 2009
I have been sorting through my beads and findings during my down time. I am starting to feel a bit better and am attempting to catch up on some work (school, etc). Hopefully I'll be able to update my jewelry site soon with some new items!

We are still pretty unsure as to what caused the flare-up I've been experiencing. It may take awhile to sort through records and test results and really get to the bottom of things. Unfortunately, I have been having an increase in my migraines.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support, prayers, and encouragement! It is much appreciated!

Fundraising efforts

March 12, 2009
Hi everyone!

I received a very generous donation yesterday that was quite unexpected! Check out the ticker to see how much we've raised so far!

We are still waiting on the results of blood work...I have been feeling "under the weather" (to say the least) and am hoping this resolves itself soon. I have been keeping busy with some beadwork and am presently designing a bracelet for AIDS Community Services in WNY. Pictures to follow!

Health update

March 7, 2009
Many of you are aware that I have been experiencing significant medical difficulties lately that have kept me pretty close to home...We are working on getting things figured out, but diagnostics can take awhile. It appears that I have developed an autoimmune disorder which has been exacerbating my neurovascular disorder. I will know a bit more about what is going on early next week. At this rate, my new helper cannot come soon enough!

Thank you all for your support!

Erica
